Session 8:  Empty Ruins and Dinner Parties 9/19/21 Grange 8: Seeing nothing else to do and with many of the group away from the keep, Squish, Elairiel, and I head back to the Old Woods to check the temple.   After teleporting to our usual spot, we first go to Rasp’s lair to look for any evidence of what happened.   The place was completely torn up, tree and all.    We spot troll footprints but don’t see any sign that they were still in the area.   The only thing I find in the ruined treehouse was a vial of thick purple liquid (purple worm venom) which I gave to Squish. We went back to the Temple and found the anti-magic field was still in place.   The bodies of the cultists that we dispatched were still there but there were five more bodies as well.   These showed signs of major blunt force trauma as their cause of death.   Possibly, the trolls were at work here as well The portal into Zehir was gone so we entered the temple. ...
Session 7:  Into the Depths 9/5/21 Grange 6: When we arrived back at the keep, Squish was back, but they wouldn’t say where they had gone.   They seem… different somehow.   Hopefully we can talk about it later.   There was also someone else at the keep, a red-headed elf warrior in chainmail with a shield and morning star.   He introduced himself as Isaac Gelrek, a Paladin of the Order of Watchers.   He had been sent to help with problems in the area and had heard of our exploits.   The Menagerie grows! We gathered our things and headed to the Old Woods.   Rasp met us again and when we said that we were going to assault the Spore temple, he offered to help.   He appeared to be an archer of some skill.   As we approached the temple, all our magic began to fail due to some sort of anti-magic field.   The radius of the field was alarming, close to a mile across!   That should have been our first clue that something was ...
Session 6:  Looking For Trouble, But It Always Finds Us  8/29/21 Duvin 55 : Things seemed to have calmed down for now, but today brought a whole new brand of chaos.     I started off with some shopping, first for some necessities like Healing potions and Pearls.   Elairiel and I purchased well-made breastplates from the armorer so we will be a little less conspicuous when trying to move around stealthily.   I also picked up my first spellbook that I’ve had in almost a decade. Ander also had a couple of very useful items that we purchased, Gauntlets of Ogre Power and a Lantern of Revealing. Sometime during this shopping spree, Squish wandered off.   As of writing this, they still haven’t returned.   I checked their room and everything seems intact, though Xopa has been busy filling the space with plants.   I really hope they are alright. I told Elairiel of my idea for how to deal with the curse imposed by Fire Crystal she received ...
Session #5: Decks of Chaos  8/22/21 Day 19, Duvin 54: So I am writing this from my own room in our new manor house.   There is … a lot to discuss.   I’ll do my best to relay the insanity of what happened today. We entered the city this morning, with all the surviving refugees of Redorn.   The guards were stunned by the news and suggested we take them to the Town Hall.   I looked back at the cart and as I commented that we didn’t need it any longer, it immediately faded away as a shiny coin clinked to the ground in its place.   I just identified it before starting to write this entry and it is called the Coin of the Stampede.   One side has a horse and cart and the other has a group of horses in mid gallop.   Flipping the coin either summons a horse and cart which remains until dismissed or it summons riding horses for every person within 30 feet which last for 8 hours.   Those horses would have been very useful on our trek through th...
Session #4: The Destruction of Redorn  8/14/21 Day 5, ????? 41: I’m writing this while sitting at a campfire on the side of road back to Redorn. How did I get here, you ask?   I’m not really sure I can adequately explain it, but here goes nothing: I woke in the middle of the night, still slumped against the wall in my kitchen/workroom.   Everything was dark and quiet and Squish was sleeping next to me on the floor, curled up in a ball of black feathers.   I could hear Morchid snoring loudly in the other room.   I thought about moving Squish to the bedroom but I decided against.   Waking a sleeping rogue was likely to get me stabbed. After writing my previous entry of yesterday’s events, (dear Ioun, was it only yesterday?) I set to work on several projects.    First, I needed tools, woodcarver’s tools to be precise.   I consulted my notes from school and the lessons from Professor Zorhaan.   She has always said that in a pinch, we w...
Session #3: The Ivory Faces  8/8/21 Day 3 STILL Continued: Before we could rest, I had to know more about what was going on.   First, we examined the body of the assassin.   I had been fearing that it was the dark elf that had dropped off his cloak for repairs earlier, but it wasn’t.   The human was a mess of scars mixed with tattoos.   Squish recognized the tattoo on his shoulder, the Ivory Faces, which they said was a secret group of thieves and assassins and they knew a way into their underground lair. I knew we needed to rest, but first I wanted to see what this lingering effect was on Anna and my friends.   I pulled out my spectacles along with one of the pearls I had purchased earlier and did a quick Identify spell.   The pearl was pulverized as I gazed hard at it, and I blew the dust out over Squish.   Then runic script on my glasses told me everything I needed to know.   The enchantment was called Immolation and it acted more lik...
Session #2: Rewards and a Terrible Turn of Events  8/1/21 Day 3, Duvin 39 continued : Eager to receive a reward we made our way to the Town Hall.   On the way, I told them of my reluctance to join any side of the on-going war.   I had already declined that “opportunity” during my time at the Techno Diligent Academy and the Terdyr School of Wizardry.   I was relieved that the others were all in agreement At the Town Hall, the guards refused to let Morchid inside while still in cat form, so he didn’t join us.   The royals were all there arguing about the events at the wedding.   Queen Avendear was trying to hold Tyrinal responsible, but King Phill Zine was not having it.   King Landronyn just looked bored.   We were brought forth one at a time, told to give our account of what happened.   My report was extremely thorough and detailed, probably more than what was needed but I was nervous.   Morchid showed up in Firbolg form and gave an ...
